ACTION ALERT - Protect Local Waterways

The Iowa House Committee on Local Government is debating SF455, a bill that would prevent cities and counties from adopting topsoil replacement or compaction ordinances. This bill would restrict local leaders from protecting waterways from degradation. We need your help to lend a voice to streams and rivers on this issue.

Topsoil is crucial for slowing rain before it enters the stream, which helps prevent erosion of streambanks. No state or federal topsoil replacement requirements exist currently to protect streams, so local government's leadership on this issue is critical.

SF455 passed the Senate and is now being considered by the House, and as a citizen of Iowa we ask you to make your voice heard on this issue with your representatives in the Iowa House and to the members of the House Committee on Local Government.

Thank you for taking action on behalf of our rivers and streams!
